LAOAC–A training plane crash-landed in a rice field in Barangay D. Alarcio here around 8:30 a.m. of September 11 but its pilot, co-pilot and two student passengers were unhurt.
On board were Capt. Amar Deep, 27, pilot, a Malaysian national; Haresh Sager, 20, co-pilot, an Indian national; and two aircraft mechanic trainees identified as Deovannie Arzadon and Jemar Pantaleon, both Filipinos.
Police Senior Inspector Christopher Natnat, the town police chief, said they noticed the plane flying at a low level while they were on bike patrol in the area and about 10 minutes later they were alerted about a crash landing.
The plane took off runway17of the Binalonan Airfield then encountered engine trouble upon reaching about 400 feet, prompting the pilot to take an emergency landing.
When the town’s ambulance and rescue vehicle reached the crash site, the medics found the passengers shaken but unhurt and declined to be taken to a hospital, Natnat said.
The plane’s two tires were detached due to the impact of the landing and the police checked the area for gas leak but found none.
The plane, a Piper Seneca with body marking RPC 1034, was registered under WCC Aeronautics Flying School based in Barangay Linmansangan, Binalonan town.
The company, in a statement, said the “aircraft experienced loss of power on Engine number 2 (right hand)”.
