SSS-Dagupan reaches out to more towns for Alkansiya program
THE Social Security System (SSS) Dagupan office is bringing the AlkanSSSya ng Bayan program to more towns within its jurisdiction to to help members save for their monthly contributions.
Catalina Basbas, assistant branch head of SSS-Dagupan, said they will soon bring the program to Bayambang, initially targeting the contractual employees of the local government.
The branch is also looking into the possibility of introducing the alkansiya program to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and to vendors at the busy Malimgas market in Dagupan.
“If members will not have time to pay their contributions to our office, then SSS will go to them,” Basbas said during the Pantongtongan Tayo radio program of the Philippine Information Agency.
The program was launched on July 31 in Barangay Bonuan Tondaligan, Dagupan for members who belong to the Shed Owners’ Association who save P10-P12 a day in their “AlkanSSSya” to save up for the monthly SSS contribution of P312
The program has also been established in Malasiqui, catering to tricycle drivers.
Similar to a piggy bank concept, the AlkanSSSiya program provides a large cabinet with individual compartments in which members can drop their savings daily to cover their SSS contributions.
SSS-Dagupan branch covers the towns of Mangaldan, San Jacinto, San Fabian, Manaoag, Malasiqui, Bayambang and the cities of Dagupan and San Carlos. It has 207,000 members as of August 2013. (PIA1-Pangasinan/VHS)
