ANDA—A P50,000 reward money has been put up by the municipal government here for information that would lead to the arrest of the still unidentified suspect or suspects behind the brutal murder of a 16-year old student at her home in Barangay Awag here.

The killing of Ma. Julie Carlit, an honor student at the St. Nicholas Anda Integrated School who was stabbed 17 times at their home where she lived alone, has shocked this island town.

Carlit is an orphan and her siblings are all based elsewhere.

In the afternoon of the murder, September 7, Carlit’s Aunt Arlene heard a shout for help and immediately rushed to the victim’s house which is less than 150 meters away from her own home.

Arlene Carlit found her niece already dead with multiple stab wounds and a rope tied around her neck.

Julie’s belongings were in disarray, an indication, the police said, that the victim fought back her attacker/s.

PO2 Rodrigo Gacayan of the local police said they are pursuing a vital lead that would solve the case but declined to reveal details.

Mayor Aldrin Celdran made the reward offer as tarpaulins were hung at the police station, municipal hall, public market and at the victim’s residence calling for justice for Carlit’s death.—Eva Visperas
