LINGAYEN–The Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS) Region 1 chapter organized the first region-wide seminar-workshop at the Narciso Ramos and Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium on September 13-15.

“The aim of this workshop is to encourage people, especially the youth and the MAPEH (Music and Arts, Physical Education and Health) majors, to gain more knowledge on real folk dancing,” said Prof. Childe Libertad, president of PFDS Region 1.

“This is part of the K to 12 program thrusts,” Libertad added, citing that different basic folk dances will be taught particularly to the elementary and high school students.

Workshop on skill dances, meanwhile, will also be available for college students.

Libertad also said they likewise opened the workshop to participants from local government units in preparation for the Balitok A Tawir.

Participants showcase their output at the end of the workshop.

Libertad acknowledged the support of Governor Amado Espino Jr. with the provincial government providing the venue and accommodation for free.–Johanne R. Macob
