DAGUPAN Mayor Belen T. Fernandez has appointed Atty. Liberato ‘Ope’ C. Reyna Jr., newly installed president of the Dagupan City Civil Society Non-Government Organization (NGO) Federation, as this year’s hermano mayor for the 2013 city fiesta celebration.

Reyna’s nomination was announced by Fernandez during the induction of the newly-installed officers of the federation last Tuesday at the Abong na Alumni at the Dagupan City National High School compound, which she attended as the inducting officer.

In her message, Fernandez acknowledged the importance of non-government organizations’ participation in running the affairs of the city, encouraged them to be part of the local development council, and take part in her transparent government advocacy.

Earlier, Reyna vowed that their newly-formed umbrella organization will actively participate in policy setting and assist in the city’s development.

Fernandez also thanked the 42 NGOs and individuals who extended their help to the victims of the recent Typhoon Maring and the monsoon rains that caused more than a week of flooding in some parts of Dagupan. (CIO)
