THE thrice-postponed opening of the Universities Colleges Athletic Association of Pangasinan (UCAAP) Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament will officially begin on September 4 at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome featuring archrivals Lyceum Northwestern University Dukes and the University of Luzon Golden Tigers.

Joining the three-squad tourney is 2012 Jimmy Fernandez Cup champions UPang-Phinma Flames who will tangle against either the Dukes or the Tigers on the following day at the same venue.

The Dagupan champion will face the winner of the La Union-Ilocos Sur-Norte tourney, and the winner will battle against the Cordillera and Central Luzon frontrunners before advancing to face much tougher opponents in Manila and southern Luzon.

Should the Dagupan champion prevail, the team will enter the Philippine Colleges Champions League (PCCL) top sixteen schools for the national league competition.–JAGJr.
