UCAAP INTER-COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

THE Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) Dukes used a run-and-gun spurt of games in its last two battles over archenemy University of Pangasinan (UPang) Flames, clobbering the 2011 PRISAA champions twice, 89-67 and 87-60, to win the UCAAP Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship at Dagupan People’s Astrodome on September 25 and 26.

The Dukes, losing its prolific guard George Alipio due to a bad fall with 1:44 minutes left in the third quarter of the second game, did not give up hope with MVP Alexander Andrade, Jr. at the helm scoring a game high 17 points and never let the Flames get a taste of the lead in any of the four quarters.

The DUKES earned the Philippine Colleges Champions League (PCCL) slot for the regional joust in Vigan City.

The Lingayen pride Andrade, 21, drained a championship high 28 marks in the first game while Bolinao son Llyod Quisay scored an average of 16 while 16 year-old center Julius Tiburcio and Alipio contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively.–JAGJr.
