GATE grants DILG building request
NEW PROV’L BUILDING INAUGURATED
LINGAYEN–Another landmark had risen at the capitol complex.
Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan led the inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed building of the provincial government, the former United Way building, on September 2 here.
The building is located beside the Department of Education-Schools Division of Pangasinan 1 compound.
Joining the activity were several department and office heads of the provincial government and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial officer Regie Colisao and her constituents.
After months of construction, the P11.2-million building will house some offices of the provincial government.
The DILG provincial office will temporarily occupy a space at the first floor of the building while reconstruction by the province of the old DILG building is undertaken.
“We are very thankful that Gov. Espino granted our request for the reconstruction of the provincial DILG office,” Colisao said, adding that “in return, our department commits to render quality services for Pangasinenses to realize the vision of our governor for the province.”
“Ang DILG building po kasi ngayon ay luma na. After the 1991 earthquake, it was already condemned, pero doon pa rin kami nag-stay,” she added.
She said that during their monthly meetings, it was hard to put together about 80 DILG officers of municipal and city local governments in the province inside a small office space.
A space was also reserved at the first floor for committee hearings of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. A house built at the back of the former United Way building will serve as lounge of the Vice Governor and the provincial board members.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) will occupy the second floor; however, PESO Manager Alex Ferrer said that physical adjustments will have to be made on the second floor before their transfer.
While the old Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) building is set for rehabilitation, its employees are given a space at the second floor. (PIO/Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca)
