A FORMER barangay kagawad from Manaoag was arrested for peddling illegal drugs by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a buy-bust operation in the evening of September 18.

The suspect was identified as Joedhel Ventura Ocomen, 26, single, and a resident of 191 Bisal, Manaoag.

Ocomen was arrested at the Poblacion where he sold one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu to a PDEA agent who acted as a poseur-buyer.

Aside from the shabu sold, seized were utility vehicle with plate number PEO 489, and the P500 peso bill used as buy-bust money.

The operation was conducted by operatives of PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO 1) under Director Adrian Alvariño.

Ocomen will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
