TAYUG—An intensive training program will be conducted here in October by the Green Eagle Rescue Group (GERG) to form a local “elite” team that can help respond during emergency and disaster situations.

“We are now seeking high-potential rescue volunteers and trainable young men and women with ages ranging from 20 to 28 who share with us the passion for saving lives,” said Noel Cabobos, rescue consultant and trainor who founded CERG.

Interested individuals may email their resume and photo for initial evaluation to operations.stars@yahoo.com or noelcabobos.gerg@yahoo.com, highlighting their sports activities and talents and skills, including related trainings or volunteerism efforts.

Selected fellows will undergo a two-week intensive training designed to enable them respond appropriately to the call for assistance in times of emergencies or disasters.

Training will include BLS (CPR and AED) Program, Water Search and Rescue, Firefighting Assistance, Incident Protocols and Coordination Procedures, among others.

The trained volunteers will form part of an elite roster of young rescuers in the 6th district to be called Special Tactics And Rescue Squad (STARS).

Cabobos said the group will support the rescue-related concerns and rescue education programs of the municipalities in the 6th district. “After this training, they will still undergo continuous trainings from time to time to further hone their skills,” he said.

Initially, 10 volunteers will be chosen from each of the 10 towns in the district, namely Asingan, Balungao, Natividad, Rosales, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Santa Maria, Tayug, and Umingan.

The training will be conducted in partnership with Pilipinas 911 and Citywatch and with the regional offices of the Office of Civil Defense, National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and the Philippine National Police.

Cabobos has undergone rescue-related trainings conducted by various organizations such as American Heart Association, Philippine Red Cross, Philippine Air Force and SCAN International, among others, and is himself a rescue volunteer of Philippine Red Cross-Boracay and co-founder of the Boracay Mountainbikers Club and Rescue Group.
