Dagupan police calls for ordinance on mandatory CCTVs
THE Dagupan police has called on the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to pass an ordinance requiring businesses in the city to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems in their commercial premises to help in crime prevention and resolution.
SPO2 Rodrigo Vinluan, representing acting police chief P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano during the KBP forum last September 12, they have recommended that the CCTVs be made part of the requirements for the issuance of a business permit.
He cited that around the country, numerous crimes have been solved with the help of CCTVs, making it a worthy investment for the business owners.
Vinluan noted that nowadays all types of businesses are prone to crimes, particularly robbery.
“Wala nang pinipili,” he said.
The Dagupan police, alongside the rest of the stations around the province, is currently implementing Patrol 101, a program intended to increase police visibility and strengthen links with the communities.
“There are also a number of police community precincts that ables the (city) station to respond immediately,” Vinluan added.–Johanne R. Macob
