UPAI holds “Bowl for a Cause” to fund scholarships
THIS year’s Fall Bowling League, an annual activity sponsored by the United Pangasinanes of America, Inc. (UPAI), started August 4, 2013 at the Classic Bowling Center in Daly City.
The proceeds of the event will fund the UPAI Scholarship Program for the Indigent High School Graduates from Pangasinan.
UPAI President Chris Y. Torres and League Chairman Jose “Pepe” Rosario dubbed the league as a “Bowl For A Cause”, said the event not only helps their fellow Pangasinenses but also promotes sportsmanship and fosters better fellowship in their community.
This fundraising project, organized by the Ways and Means Committee, is spearheaded by Pepe Rosario, chairman; Bernard Valdez, vice- chairman; Chris Torres and Bernie Gabriel, bowling league chairman and co-chairman, respectively; Lee Junio, bowling league secretary; Emma Torres, asst. secretary; and Betty Junio.
The participating teams are Calasiao (Napo Padilla, team captain), Bayambang*1 (Rudy Junio, team captain), Bayambang*2 (Marlon Torres, team captain), San Carlos City (Jesus Paningbatan, team captain), San Manuel (Bernie Gabriel, team captain), Dagupan City*1 (Ben Aquino, team captain), Dagupan City*2 (Rico Ferrer, team captain), Lingayen (Ral Dasco, team captain); Manaoag (Richard Gumpal, team captain), Rosales (Waldy Alvarez, team captain) and Mabini (Jon Stone) team captain.
Team and individual trophies and cash prizes will be awarded during the UPAI Appreciation Party after the championship games on December 1.
