THE twice-postponed and much-awaited 2013 Universities Colleges Athletic Association of Pangasinan (UCAAP) Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship will finally open on August 22 with an expected full-house crowd at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome.

The opening will feature double-header explosive matches between arch rivals Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) Dukes and University of Luzon (UL) Golden Tigers in the first game.

The University of Pangasinan-PHINMA (UPang) Flames versus Asian Institute of Economic (AEI) Eagles (not PAMMA as earlier reported) follow in the second match expected to start at 2:30 p.m.

The maiden league fires off with a grand opening ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with four teams joining the parade of players, coaches and muses before hostilities start at 1:00 p.m.

The Dukes will be mentored this season by Gilmark Meneses while the Golden Tigers will be steered by Bryon Vidal.

Flames will be handled by Jay Ronquillo whereas the Eagles have a new coach in the person of Ric Bautista.
