PREPARATIONS are on track for the 2013 DCNHS Grand Alumni Homecoming on December 27 and 28, which is being groomed to be “one of the best ever in entertainment value, alumni participation and significance,” according to Atty. Liberato C. Reyna, alumni president.

The Alumni Night of the Dagupan City National High School is a featured city fiesta event that draws thousands of alumni, including those living abroad.

Engr. Jaime Siapno (Batch ’63), the event chairman, will tap US-based alumni for their support and participation in the reunion and for various alumni projects.

The jubilarians are Batch ‘88, led by businessman Rey Caburnay, as president; Batch ‘83, with teacher Ruby Amado as president; Batch ‘73, with former Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Eleazar Quinto as president; Batch ‘63, with Engr. Jaime Siapno as president; and Batch ‘68 with realty developer Manny Roy as president.

Batch ’88 will host the Hawaiian-themed Alumni Night on December 28 while the Pistay City High and its attendant activities on December 27 will be jointly hosted by Batch ’73, ’63 and ’68.

A new activity of the Pistay City High is the early morning Family Fun Walk that replaces the Fun Run in consideration of the elder alumni, especially those from batch ‘40s, ‘50s, and ‘60s.

The tribute to five Outstanding DCNHS Teachers, which aims to encourage academic excellence and chaired by Dette Mendoza, and the awarding of the basketball tournament winners for the President Reyna Cup will precede the expected crowd-drawer Disco Sa City High in the evening.

The first DCNHS Alumni Basketball Tournament started May 19 and drew a record 23 participating teams.

“We did not expect that so many teams from the different batches will join the tournament,” said Reyna, “our projection is at least 10 teams will participate.”
