CALASIAO—Students of Otilia Balingit Constantino Elementary School in Barangay Lasip here received a donation last week of brand new textbooks worth P168,000 from Rex Publishing Company.

The donated textbooks are for Science, Match, English and Reading Music subjects for grades 1 to 6.

School principal Josie Velasco accepted the donation in simple ceremonies from the Rotary Club and and Inner Wheel Club of Dagupan East headed by Dr. Vicente Bernardo and his wife Dr. Windy Bernardo, respectively.

The Rotary Club also donated a water filter facility to provide students with a potable water system.

The books were donated through the efforts of Candy Gonzales-Blancaflor, academic director of EDNAS School in Dagupan City.

Windy Bernardo, whose paternal grandmother donated the lot where the school stands, said as president of the Innerwheel Club of Dagupan East, she and her fellow officers asked how their group could help the school’s students, whose record in the national achievement test is among the lowest performing schools in the country.–Eva Visperas
