LINGAYENThe classic beauty and awe-inspiring grandeur of Pangasinan Provincial Capitol building will soon be shown on national television as GMA-7, the country’s leading TV network, selected the province’s seat of governance as one of the major locations of GMA’s upcoming teleserye entitled Genesis.

Joyce Bernal, director of the teleserye, said, the capitol building is an ideal set in view of its “authenticity, bigness and production value.”

Sa production value pa lang makikita mo na ‘yung ganda. ‘Yung sa location ng kapitolyo, wala ka ng idadagdag pa kasi maganda na sya talaga,” she added.

Bernal said the capitol building will serve as the “seat of power” of the sci-fi themed program.

Bernal, an award-winning film director, was among the ASNA awardees of the province in 2011 during the 401st founding anniversary of the province.

The provincial capitol edifice, being selected as the setting of the television program, is a testament to its eminent moniker as “Philippines’ Grandest and Best Capitol building.”

The building was renovated during the first term of Governor Amado T. Espino Jr.

Provincial Tourism Operations Division Chief Ma. Louisa Elduayan expressed elation to GMA-7 in selecting the provincial capitol for the teleserye.

“I’m sure this will interest many people, considering that the setting is in our province,” she said, adding that this is an opportunity to promote Pangasinan as a premiere tourist destination.

Officials, heads of department and offices of the provincial government led by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan had an opportunity to meet the lead stars of Genesis –Dingdong Dantes, Lorna Tolentino, Jackylou Blanco and Robert Arevalo — in a courtesy call at the governor’s office. Ronnie Henares, Betong and two other kapuso young talents were also present during the shooting.
