Congress reps laud PNoy’s SONA
THREE of the six congressional representatives of Pangasinan applauded the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Benigno Aquino III last July 22, describing it as both strong and appreciative.
Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, a re-electionist, said this year’s SONA was outstanding.
“It is what we need to pursue the progress without let-up. It gave credit where credit is due and delivered a strong message against those who failed to follow the ‘matuwid na daan’,” Bataoil said.
This was echoed by first-termer Rep. Rosemarie Arenas of the 3rd District, saying “the President’s speech was very powerful”.
“He did not mince words in directly addressing issues of corruption and ineptitude but he was equally generous in giving credit where it is due,” Arenas said.
“Just like romance, his speech was very passionate, such that, while it was firm, he tempered it,” she added.
Meanwhile, 4th District Rep. Gina de Venecia lauded the President particularly for his programs on the delivery of basic services such as health care.
De Venecia cited the expansion of the Region 1 Medical center (R1MC) in Dagupan, which is part of the Universal Health Care program.
“We should support his call to action in carrying out his development goals,” said De Venecia, adding, “This would be meaningless if we don’t support and act as concerned citizens.”
