Kanlungan Center gets PhilHealth R1 fun run proceeds
THE PhilHealth Regional Office 1 (PRO1) raised more than P643,000 from the Dagupan leg of the PhilHealth-DOH Run 2013 held last February 17 and recently turned over part of the funds to the Kanlungan Center Foundation, Inc.
Kanlungan Center, based in San Fernando, La Union, provides support to displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), especially women and their families.
Aside from Kanlungan, proceeds from the fun run were also donated to two national beneficiaries, Philippine Medical Children’s Center and Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital.
The cheque was awarded to Kanlungan Center officials during the inauguration of the new Eastern Pangasinan Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) at CB Mall, MacArthur Highway in Urdaneta City.
Kanlungan Executive Director Ruel Valencia said the funds will be used for the organization’s work in promoting the rights and welfare of OFWs and their families, prevent human trafficking and illegal recruitment and to organize displaced OFWs and their families.
