PANGASINAN’s highest ranked and FIDE Master Haridas Pascua of Mangatarem, with National Master Giovanni Mejia of Labrador and John Ruiz Bravo of Lingayen enplaned to Chiang Mai, Thailand on June 5 to vie for trophies in the 14^th ASEAN + Age Group Chess Championships 2013 plums.

Pascua, 19, with an elo rating of 2367 will be competing in the 20-and-under category while Mejia (2146) is scheduled to tussle in the open under-16 division and Bravo in the 14-under class.

Pascua and Mejia placed sixth and 12^th, respectively, during the 2013 Pangasinan Invitational Chess Tournament in the open division won by Grandmaster Oliver Barbosa (2513) held at Robinsons Place in Calasiao last May 4 and 5 while Bravo (1828) landed 15^th in the 14-under category.

The three Pangasinenses will be joined by 19 other non-Grandmaster wood-pushers from all over the country representing the Philippines headed by 2013 Philippine National Games champion International Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia.–JAGJr.
