PESO holds 3 job fairs
LINGAYEN—It was a busy week for the government’s employment departments with three job fairs held on May 22-24.
The Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) organized last May 22 a special recruitment activity at the PESO office here for a company based at the Clark special economic zone looking for factory workers.
On May 23, the PESO, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the municipality of Umingan, the offices of Board Members Ranjit Shahani and Alfonso Bince, and the office of re-elected 6th District Rep. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, held a job fair in Umingan catering mainly to out-of-school-youth and unemployed adults.
PESO Chief Alex Ferrer said that there are still many local and overseas employment opportunities, particularly for production operators/ factory workers for electronic companies.
“We are looking for workers who have at least two years experience for Middle East companies and skilled workers with longer experience for Guam and New Zealand,” Ferrer added.
DOLE’S SRA
On May 24, DOLE hosted a Special Recruitment Activities (SRA) in Rosales for a licensed recruitment agency hiring nurses, nursing aides and restaurant workers for Singapore and skilled workers for construction in New Zealand.
“As enunciated in the President’s 22-point Labor and Employment Agenda, the DOLE is continuously strengthening coordination with its social partners to address job-skill mismatch, which is still the root cause of unemployment,” said DOLE 1 Regional Director Grace Ursua– Johanne R. Macob
