How Pangasinan voted

THE May 13 vote for 12 senators in Pangasinan, one of the top three provinces with the highest number of voters, slightly differs from the national result in terms of ranking.

The top three in the national tally, Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Senator Loren Legarda and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, matches the choice of Pangasinenses.

Sen. Francis Escudero, who was fourth nationwide, was in 5th place in Pangasinan with 637,756 votes   while Nancy Binay was fourth with 629,164.

Completing the Pangasinan top 12 for senators are: Sonny Angara (615,439), Cynthia Villar (549,786), Benigno Aquino IV (517,414), Koko Pimentel –(509,365), Dick Gordon (493,604), Gregorio Honasan (490,049) and Antonio Trillanes (485,476).

Gordon did not make it to the 12 winning senators.

JV Ejercito, who took the 11th slot nationwide, was 13th in Pangasinan with 478,913, followed by Jack Enrile  (467,296) and Ramon Magsaysay, Jr. (401,641).

LOCAL WINNERS

Proclaimed winners in the provincial race were: re-electionists Amado T. Espino, Jr. (851,760) for governor and Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. (709,389) for vice- governor.

Winners for House of Representatives are: 1st District-Jesus Celeste (109,914),  2nd District-Leopoldo Bataoil (154,466), 3rd District -Rosemarie Arenas (201,340), 4th District – Gina De Venecia (175,667), 5th  District- Kimi Cojuangco  (164,504) and  6th District -Marlyn Primicias-Agabas (161,362)

Board Members-elect are: 1st District –Napoleon Fontelera Jr. (107,126) and Antonio Sison (50,526); 2nd District Nestor Reyes (100,018) and Raul Sison (92,954);3rd District   and Angel Baniqued, Jr; (133,991) and Generoso Tulagan, Jr. (116,983), 4th District Liberato Villegas (44,210) and Mojamito Libunao (40,822); 5th District- Danilo Uy (123,394) and Clemente Arboleda Jr. (104,275); and 6th  District  -Ranjit Shahani (84,307)  and Alfonso Bince (75,431).

The Provincial Board of Canvassers was chaired by Atty. Marino Salas, the provincial election supervisor, Prosecutor Ely Reintar as vice-chairman, and Dr. Viraluz Raguindin as member/secretary.

The counting proceedings were watched by lawyer representatives from the Liberal Party (LP), United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV). The Board adjourned at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 17. (with report from PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
