Abono partylist is Pangasinan’s top choice

HOMEGROWN Abono partylist based in Rosales town was the number one choice once again by Pangasinenses in the May 13 polls, giving the group 378,690 votes.

Official tally from the provincial office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) indicate that Abono was a runaway favorite with the second partylist, APEC, getting just 43,202 votes.

The Senior Citizens partylist, although disqualified by the Comelec, still came in third with 32,654, followed by Bayan Muna (29,157), OFW Family (28,159) and A-Teacher (26,929).

Occupying the seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th places were AVE (20,918), ACT-CIS (20,814), Buhay (19,858) and Magdalo (18,154).

Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said a total of 1,343,904 actually voted in Pangasinan out of the 1,651,814 total registered voters.

Abono, which represents the agricultural sector, was founded by Engr. Rosendo So and first joined the party list elections in 2007.—Eva Visperas
