“The Golden Wheel” book launch April 20
NOTED Dagupan -borne historical biographer, author and publisher Melandrew T. Velasco will launch the 280-page full color The Golden Wheel: Passion. Excellence. Service: Success Stories and Directory of Rotarians in District 3780 on April 20 at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
Rotary International Director Rafael “Paing” Hechanova will be the keynote speaker during the event.
Velasco expressed elation over the completion of his latest book, his 13th in a span of 13 years since he first authored and co-published An Enduring Legacy with former President Fidel V. Ramos in November 2000.
President Ramos, people’s champ Manny Pacquiao and Journey’s lead singer Arnel Pineda are among the featured personalities in Velasco’s latest book.
“What binds these three great men is not just fame and international popularity but also a passion for service – a passion for Rotary,” Velasco said, himself an outstanding Rotarian being past president of the legendary Rotary Club of Cubao West.
As a collection of success stories in their various fields of profession, The Golden Wheel Book aims to inspire Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike to use their capabilities in their vocations to help those in need.
Others featured in the book are the recipients of the 2012 Golden Wheel Awards, including Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, Philippine Star CEO & President Miguel Belmonte, the late DILG Secretary Jesus “Jesse” Robredo, and the late Inquirer publisher Isagani Yambot.
