PESO announces more job openings

THERE are currently more job openings both in the country and abroad for job-seekers, including fresh graduates.

The good news is from the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in Lingayen citing companies at the Clark Economic Zone in Pampanga and other economic zones in Calabarzon that are ready to hire production operators, management production staff, and call center agents.

Alex Ferrer, chief of PESO-Pangasinan, noted the demand overseas is highest for skilled workers, followed by hospitality industry and retail and service industry workers for Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Hong Kong.

However, there are not enough qualified applicants from the province to fill the demand.

“We are now running out of applicants,” he said.

The demand for nurses abroad, on the other hand, has decreased although there are still openings.

COACHING JOBSEEKERS

Those needing some coaching on how to be more employable can also see PESO for help.

Ferrer said while holding job fairs is their most visible activity, his office also helps the province’s workforce land jobs.

The PESO-Pangasinan maintains a database of job seekers coming to their office and they are notified through text messaging if there are openings matching their skills, said Ferrer during the KBP forum on Thursday.

Job openings are also announced on radio.

The PESO also conducts cross-matching of labor to facilitate employment, skills enhancement program, career and employment coaching, as well as testing assistance for both private companies without the capabilities and students to increase their chances for employment.

The PESO-Pangasinan office is located at the Kalantiao Building at the Provincial Capitol compound in Lingayen with contact numbers (072) 542-4252 or 542-6211. (PIA-Pangasinan/ARF)
