Pangasinan Dental Association bags 12 highest national awards
THE Pangasinan Chapter of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) was recently cited Most Outstanding Chapter for 2013 and earned 10 other distinctions for its various programs and projects.
PDA-Pangasinan Chapter’s president, Dr. Evangeline Flores-Padlan, also dean of the College of Dentistry of Lyceum-Northwestern University, was honored with the 2013 Presidential Merit Award.
The other awards received by PDA- Pangasinan Chapter were: League of President’s Award, Presidential Merit Award, Best in Research, Best in “Binhi” Projects, Best in “Very Important Patient” Project, Best in Twin Chapters Sisterhood with Zamboanga City Dental Chapter, Best in Environmental Projects (First Place), PDA-Colgate Regional Convention Host, Best Poster (10th) National Dental Health Month 2012 and Best Poster (4th) National Dental Health Month 2013.
The PDA president Dr. Arturo de Leon cited the Pangasinan Chapter’s “Adopt-A-Barangay” school program that it jointly held with LNU in Barangay Bacayao Sur, Dagupan City, and its networking efforts for the “Binhi” program that linked Pangasinan with Mindanao communities, such as Zambaonga City and Jolo, Sulu.
The Pangasinan Dental Chapter also led people and youth-based projects that helped improve coastal management programs of Pangasinan towns and their counterparts in Zambales Zamboanga aned Sulu.
Dr. Flores-Padlan’s experiences and connections in Mindanao communities enabled the Pangasinan-Mindanao Binhi collaboration.
In her letter to LNU President Dr. Gonzalo T. Duque, she acknowledged the support given by the university in the outreach programs and projects of the Pangasinan Dental Chapter that resulted in its winning most of the PDA annual awards this year.
