NPC bets decry “endless black propaganda”

INFANTA— The members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) ticket, led by incumbent governor Amado T. Espino, were one in expressing their disgust over the continuous spreading of black propaganda by the opposition, targeting the party’s proclamation rally no less.

At the NPC proclamation rally, copies of Pangasinan News, a new tabloid that featured series of “news” about alleged corruption in the provincial government under the stewardship of Espino, were freely distributed to the town’s residents that trooped to the rally to show their support for the NPC ticket.

The tabloid reportedly did not list its publisher and editors making the NPC members believe that it was another “dirty trick” launched allegedly by the opposition.

The other members of NPC Pangasinan team who were present at the rally were Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. and Congressman Jesus ‘Boying’ Celeste,

Mayor Virgilio Vallarta and other candidates in his ticket.

Vallarta succeeded slain Mayor Ruperto Martinez who was assassinated last December.

Ruperto’s son, Richard Martinez, substituted his father in his bid for the vice mayoralty post.

Celeste appealed to candidates belonging to the opposition to stop their “dirty tactics” and to focus on their platforms instead.

He was loudly applauded for thanking the residents for not believing the accusations leveled against them as these appeared in the tabloid.

The governor accused his political opponents as those behind the black propaganda that used the form of a newspaper in an attempt to give the news a semblance of legitimacy.

He said the unceasing dirty tactics employed against him are taking its toll on his family particularly his mother who has taken ill.

Espino went on to cite the many awards and recognition that Pangasinan has earned since he assumed office in 2007. (Johanne R. Macob)
