FIVE-time Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., tagged as the architect of modern Dagupan, is considered a vital cog to the campaign of the Gina-Belen-Michael team.

Last Thursday night, the former speaker pinch-hit for his wife Gina who contracted mild flu after non-stop campaigns in Dagupan, San Fabian, Mangaldan, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

He and Manay Gina de Venecia are what the people of the Fourth District of Pangasinan called “Serbisyong Two-in-One”.

Manong Joe and the rest of the Gina-Belen-Michael team were warmly welcomed during campaign rallies in Sitios Palatong and San Gabriel Thursday night.

JdV was elated to see big crowds going to the rallies though they had no gimmicks like bingo, that the rival political group is doing.

He said this only proves that the Dagupeños are truly “respectable and not easily carried away by gimmickry like bingo games.

The veteran JDV needed no introduction in Bonuan Boquig, next door neighbor of Bonuan Binloc where the De Venecias made home.

“I had been living in Binloc for the past 43 years and my wife Gina who is an in-law of Bonuan has been living with us for the past 32 years,” JdV said to the delight of a partisan crowd of De Venecia supporters.

Even school children are aware that it was JDV who built their stadium and their school, the Bonuan Boquig National High School which was built in collaboration with Mayor Cipriano Manaois, his son former Vice Mayor Teodoro Manaois III and Cirilo Manaois.

In that rally, JdV read some of the accomplished projects funded from the Priority Assistance Fund of Manay Gina among them: the rehabilitation of the Deleon Francisco Maramba Elementary Schoo, P500,000; Rehabilitation of a road at Ayusip Street, P1.5 million; Construction of a Drainage System at Ayusip Road, P650,000′ Rehabilitation of Lomboy Street, P1million; and Rehabilitation of a road at Pasiliao Street, P500,000.

He asked Liberal Party standard bearer Belen Fernandez to partner with the De Venecias after the election so that the lot leading to the gymnasium as well as Bonuan Boquig Elementary School could be purchased and improved.
