Gina-Belen-Michael Team gets big boosts
A BIG HIT IN SORTIES
THE Gina-Belen-Michael Team continues to win more supporters in their barangay sorties in Dagupan since the campaign period started.
The rally at the Barangay Caranglaan Gym last Wednesday night was again attended by a huge crowd that filled the barangay gymnasium and all the way out in the street.
Liberal Party mayoralty candidate Belen Fernandez said the city of Dagupan needs change and the people are echoing this in all their barangay sorties that started April 3 in Bonuan Binloc.
This was echoed by De Venecia and all the candidates for councilors, namely Maybelyn Fernandez, Alfie Fernandez, Jeslito Seen, Karlos Reyna, former Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo, Alfredo Quinto, Saysi Samson, Marlyn Manaois Reyna, Marvin Fabia and Solo de Venecia.
The surprise appearance in the rally of Manny Roy, a former business associate of Mayor Benjamin Lim electrified the crowd more when he chanted with his right fist raised Salat! Salat! Salat! (Change! Change! Change!)
Roy held up some documents that he said detailed some transactions entered into by the present administration that were detrimental to the city government, among them the sale of MC Adore and the deal on the lot now occupied by Metro Plaza.
Also in the crowd were former Councilor Liberato Reyna Jr., a lawyer and chairman of the board of University of Luzon, former Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Councilor Luis Samson Jr.
Former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., fresh from his trip abroad as founding chairman of the Conference of Asian Political Parties, said the Gina-Belen-Michael Team and their line-up has the blessing of President Benigno Aquino III.
He specifically mentioned Belen Fernandez who President Aquino has complete trust and confidence and considers her as one of his most reliable political allies in Northern Luzon.
The former Speaker confirmed President Aquino’s statement in Dagupan City last March 8 that, “Buo ang loob ko kay Belen. Aarangkada ang Dagupan kung si Belen ang mauupo sa puwesto.”
De Venecia also took a dig at Mayor Benjamin Lim, who she roundly beat in their showdown in 2007, for picking his son as his running-mate and his wife Celia to oppose Manay Gina.
“A wife, a husband and their son running at the same time and in the same place is none other but a show of greed for power by one family, thus a big insult to the intelligence and capacity of the people of Dagupan City and the fourth district of Pangasinan,” De Venecia said.
