DPWH warns against illegal solicitations
THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has alerted its employees, contractors, suppliers and consultants against individuals and groups allegedly soliciting money for projects supposedly endorsed by the department’s top officials.
DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson issued the warning last week in a press statement following continuing reports from field offices about receiving calls or letters of solicitation, tickets for organized events, and fundraising notices for a cause sent out in the name of DPWH.
Singson asked those who have received such calls or letters to help put an end to this syndicate by reporting to the DPWH Public Information Division at telephone number 02-536-3477 or through the 24/7 DPWH Call Center Hotline 165-02.
In Pangasinan, reports can be made to the DPWH’s four district offices: Alaminos City, 552-7213; Lingayen, 542-6406; Sta. Barbara, 653-6418; and Rosales, 582-3993.
“Our mandate is building roads and other national infrastructure. We are not in any way involved in anti-illegal drug campaigns or any related fund raising activities to raise awareness on illegal drug related issues,” said Singson.
Singson deplored certain groups whom he said are trying to “destroy the continuing efforts of the Department to transform and follow President Benigno S. Aquino III administration’s bid towards ‘Daang Matuwid’”. (PIA-Pangasinan)
