POSO readies traffic rerouting plan
FOR UPGRADING OF ABF AVENUE
THE Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) in Dagupan has finalized the traffic-rerouting plan to minimize disruption in vehicular traffic flow during the upgrading of A.B. Fernandez Avenue beginning this month.
POSO Chief Robert Erfe Mejia said during the first phase of the construction, the north side of AB Fernandez Ave. starting from the Dermcare building up to Maybank will be closed to traffic.
The first left lane of the south side portion will serve as single lane vehicle parking area while the second left lane portion will allow one-way vehicle passage.
Public utility jeepney (PUJ) lines from AB Fernandez East going to Pozorrubio, Manaoag, San Fabian, Mapandan and Mangaldan will turn left to PNR road (corner of former Veteran’s Bank Building), then will turn right to AB Fernandez East.
Calasiao, San Carlos and Malasiqui PUJ lines from Mayombo to MH Del Pilar will turn left to AB Fernandez, then left to Herrero, right to MH Del Pilar-Perez Boulevard, to Mayombo towards destination.
PUJ’s to Lingayen from Tapuac to Perez Blvd. will turn left to Rizal Street, turn left to AB Fernandez West, left to Careenan, right to Amado, then right to Tapuac.
Other PUJ lines will maintain their existing routes.
Temporary route for mini-bus lines, La Union-Dagupan trip from AB Fernandez East to AB Fernandez to turn left to Herrero (holding area) then exit will also be in Herrero, turn left to MH Del Pilar corner Perez, right to AB Fernandez East.
Camiling, Bolinao and Lingayen mini buses from Tapuac to Perez Blvd. will turn left to MH Del Pilar, left again to ABFA, left to Herrero (holding area). Then from the holding area, turn right to Perez Blvd. towards destination.
Bus lines like Victory Liner, Five Star Bus Co., Dagupan Bus, Solid North and First North National will follow existing route.
Tricycles-for-hire are not allowed to enter AB Fernandez to Rizal Street and AB Fernandez corner Burgos to ABF West.
Traffic counter flow for any vehicle type will not be tolerated along AB Fernandez from west to east direction for 24 hours of the whole week.
“We join forces with the Dagupan City police to ensure the safety of the people and motorists while the road elevation project is going on,” said Erfe Mejia.
Erfe Mejia called for the public’s patience and consideration “for this small delay as this will address the perennial flooding in the city’s central business area.”
The upgrading project will be temporarily stopped on April 28 to give way to the celebration of the Bangus Festival.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has allotted P49 million for the project, which includes the improvement of sidewalks, drainage systems and existing lamp posts on AB Fernandez Ave. to be elevated by 40-45 centimeters. (CIO)
