MANAY GINA REPORTS

THE feeding program for malnourished school children in the fourth district launched by Congresswoman Manay Gina de Venecia in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) since December last year continues without let-up.

Bankrolled by Manay Gina’s Special Feeding Program Fund initially at P4.7 million, the project is now benefiting malnourished school children from Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Manaoag and Dagupan.

De Venecia succeeded in obtaining the release of P327,000 more to benefit additional 200 school children from Mangaldan, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

Sa pamamagitan po ng pondong ito, at sa pagtutulungan ng ating lokal na pamahalaan at ng DSWD, ay umaasa akong mabibiyayaan ang mga batang higit na nangangailangan,” said De Venecia, in a speech during a ceremony in Mangaldan when she turned over the additional fund last Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Robert De Vera of San Jacinto and Ritchie Abalos, chairman of the Liga ng Barangay of Managaldan.

De Venecia thanked Secretary Dinky Soliman, for supporting her feeding program and other meaningful programs and projects meant for her constituents in the Fourth District of Pangasinan.

De Venecia said DSWD also helped her establish The Haven for Children which has four regional centers nationwide to shelter street children neglected by their parents, especially the victims of drugs.

The Haven for Women and The Haven for Children both have branches in the Fourth District, located right at Barangay Bonuan- Binloc.

She recalled that in 2006, the DSWD also helped her put up the country’s first-ever INA Healing Center right in the compound of the DSWD main office Quezon City which is now giving counseling and guidance for mothers grieving for the untimely demise of their beloved children.

In  2010, DSWD also helped De Venecia put up The Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal, to provide love, care and shelter to senior citizens who might have been abandoned by their families.
