PANGASINAN remains one of the vote-richest provinces in the country, now with 1,651,814 registered voters for the May midterm election, 29,000 more than the previous election in 2010.

In the 2010 elections, 1,295,552 or almost 80 percent of the 1,621,959 registered voters cast their ballot.

Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said among the 44 towns and four cities in Pangasinan, Dagupan City, the center of trade and education, has the highest number of registered voters with 98,835.

San Carlos City is second with 96,753 voters; followed by Urdaneta City with 72,776; Malasiqui, 69,805; and Bayambang, 67,885.

The other top ten municipalities and city are: Mangladan, 56,255; Binmaley, 56,027; Lingayen, 55,023; Calasiao, 52,234; and Alaminos City, 46,939.

While San Carlos, Malasiqui and Calasiao remain in the top ten, records indicate a decrease in their respective number of registered voters.—Eva Visperas
