I am humbled by PNoy’s endorsement – Belen
“I AM humbled,” said Dagupan Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez of the endorsement given to her and the rest of her team mates by President Benigno Aquino III who was in town recently.
Interviewed three days after PNoy made the endorsement, Fernandez said she will work doubly hard so that the endorsement made by the highest official of the land will not be in vain.
Aside from Fernanded who is running for mayor, the President also endorsed her runningmate Michael Fernandez, the rest of their candidates for councillor, and re-electionist 4th District Rep. Gina de Venecia.
The President made the endorsement during a well-attended rally by Team Pinoy last March 15 at the CSI Stadia.
“The endorsement by the President to all of us means a lot. It means we should make greater sacrifice to serve our people,” Fernandez said.
The President said he foresees faster economic progress for Dagupan under Fernandez whom he described as someone who talked less and worked more.
“Ako po ay natutuwa sa endorsement ng ating Pangulo. Palagay ko po, alam niya ang ginagawa nating trabaho para sa kabutihan ng ating mga mamamayan,” Fernandez said.
“Hindi ko siya ipahihiya at hindi ko po sisirain ang tiwalang ibinigay sa akin bilang kandidato,” she added.
Meanwhile, her runningmate, former Councilor Fernandez said, “That was a big honor given to all of us and can only repay it by working doubly hard for the betterment of our people.”
He paraphrased a statement of PNoy saying, “Mas maganda ang isang gobyernong naninilbihan kaya sa gobyernong tradisyonal at corrupt na ating nilalabanan.”
