SAN FABIAN– Hundreds of foreign and local Christian pilgrims and tourists converged at the top of Colisao Mountain here Saturday to watch “Golgotha”, a re-enactment of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in commemoration of the Holy Week.

Award-winning stage artist Manuel Obediencia, a former PETA artist and a member of Teatro Pilipino of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, directed the play.

Two actors played Christ, namely Dennis Viray, 22, who was nailed on the cross, and Jay Obediencia, 37, who had been portraying Christ in several plays staged by his family around the country.

The play was staged for the first time last year.

Obediencia said the scenic resort was developed by Dr. Robin B. Navarro, noted biochemist and doctor of medicine, who has planned it as a wellness and rejuvenation center for foreign and local tourists and for his health patients.

Dr. Manolita C. Navarro, wife of Dr. Navarro, is manager of the resort.

Other members of the cast are Maria Cristeta Obediencia who played Virgin Mary, Rose Anne Obediencia as Mary Magdalene, Diony Cassidy Obediencia as Judas Iscariot, and James Walter Obediencia as Pontius Pilate.

The 15-hectare resort has several Biblical scenes including big Ten Commandments tablets, temples, chapels, rivers, springs, and other familiar Biblical places.

Now listed among the tourist destinations in northern Luzon, the resort is a favorite venue for conferences and conventions, spiritual retreat, and picnics.
