Dukes rip Pistons in Urdaneta games
URDANETA CITY–The Lyceum Northwestern University Dukes continued their winning streak in provincial college caging by ripping the Manantan Technical School Pistons, 99-80, in the Metro Urdaneta Athletic Association Invitational Basketball Cup held at the city’s cultural center and sports complex on February 27.
After the 42-42 deadlock at halftime, the Dukes outscored their foes in the third by 12 points and in the fourth and final quarter by seven with its four key players Julius Palaganas, Roxar Melendez, Aljick Aquino and Jesse Estrada doing the barrage, registering their second straight win and with no loss.
“We were more aggressive in the third quarter, got into it defensively in the fourth and that’s the key of our team’s victory,” said assistant coaches Poise Puzon and Arnold Sumang.
Palaganas had a team high 21 points, Melendez contributed 18 while Aquino and Jesse Estrada added 17 and 16 points, respectively.
The Dukes’ next two games will be on March 1 and 4 against International College For Efficiency and AIE-College Dagupan, respectively, to be held at the same venue.–JAGJr.
