Deadline for 2nd Literary Awards entries set March 14

LINGAYEN—Professional and amateur Pangasinan writers can submit their entries for the 2nd Literary Awards in Pangasinan Language dubbed Kurit Panlunggaring until March 14 at the Provincial Tourism Office, 1st Floor Malong Building, Capitol Complex here.

Tourism Chief Malu Elduayan explained that kurit is the local term for writing while panlunggaring is a term coined by Pangasinan poet and ASNA awardee Sonny Villafania taken from the combination of the local words Pangasinan and matalunggaring.

The contest will have two divisions with two categories each: the poetry and short story writing for adults and the poetry and essay writing for 18 years old and below.

All literary works, except for the essay writing category, can cover any topic but the essay writing, the required theme is “Ikino Ko’y Baley a Sinulmingan.

For the poetry category, a contestant must submit eight to 10 poems with each poem having at least 10 lines but not more than 25 lines; for the short story, each entry must be between 10-28 pages; and for the essay, four to five pages.

All submissions must be printed using 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, short bond paper, one-inch margin on each side and must be submitted in five copies alongside one copy in a disc.

Candidates can submit at most two separate entries each. Entries must bear a pen name and not the real name of the writer.

Announcement of winners will be on March 25 and awarding will be during the Commemorative Program of Agew na Pangasinan on April 5.—Johanne R. Macob
