LINGAYEN— Strengthening the provincial government’s commitment to promoting the health of its employees, the Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) approved on March 11 an ordinance establishing the employees’ health and wellness programs.

The health and wellness program, previously known as the Health Risk Management Program (HRMP) being managed by the Human Resources Management and Development Office (HRMDO), is intended to enable employees “to avail of various health services to ensure that they achieve optimum levels of health and wellness and prevent the incidence of disease among them”, according to the ordinance.

“To encourage the employees participation and establish ownership of the program, the Health Habit Club was constituted,” added SP member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, the author of the ordinance.

The program, covering all employees, including those on regular or casual status, contractual, under a job order, and even elected officials, will provide monthly medical and physical check-up and annual executive check-up for members of the Employees’ Healthy Habit Club.

The ordinance sets an annual appropriation of  P2 million to be drawn from the non-office account of the provincial government and sets the month of February as Employees’ Month alongside the celebration of the Employees’ Health and Wellness Anniversary.

The program is one of the entries to the Civil Service Commission’s Lingkod Bayan and Pag-Asa Awards for exemplary performance.–Johanne R. Macob
