4th Buntis Congress set March 8

LINGAYEN—The provincial government through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will again assemble pregnant women from five towns for the day-long 4th Buntis Congress on March 8 at the Provincial Training and Development Center here.

This year, participants from Sual, Binmaley, Lingayen, Aguilar, and Calasiao and the provincial government employees can avail of prenatal, ultrasound, and laboratory check-ups for free.

In addition, lectures will be conducted on the significance of prenatal check-up, breastfeeding, nutrition of pregnant women and lactating mothers, and cervical cancer vaccine.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, head of the PHO, said the project is in line with the provincial government’s campaign to encourage all pregnant women to give birth in hospital facilities managed by the provincial government to curb maternal and infant mortality.

The 4th Buntis Congress, one of the activities for the celebration of Women’s Month, will be held in collaboration with the Philippine Obstetrics and Gynecology Group.–Johanne R. Macob
