4 persons nabbed for transporting illegally quarried minerals

INFANTA—Four persons were arrested by the police here while transporting suspected illegally quarried minerals on board an Isuzu truck in Barangay Bayambang in the afternoon of February 26.

The suspects were identified as Esmael Mirador, 45, driver of the Isuzu truck and a resident of Barangay Cato, Infanta; Joel Colcol, 26; Eliazar Aquino, 30; and Elbert Mirador, all of Barangay Banbam, Infanta.

Confiscated from their possession and custody were the Isuzu truck with plate number UJZ-273 registered in the name of Reynaldo Mirador of Barangay Cato, Infanta,

The four presented a quarry permit but upon verification, the police found out that the permit applies to a quarry area in Barangay Potol, Infanta.

They were charged for violation of Section 106, paragraph a of Republic Act 7942, otherwise known as Mining Law in the Philippines.

The arrest was carried out by SPO1 Rafaeil Franco under the supervision of P/Sr. Insp Ronnie Maramba, officer-in-charge of the Infanta Police.
