UPang honors local broadcasters

LINGAYEN—Local broadcast journalists and programs were given recognition in the 2nd Tagnawa Media Awards organized by Mass Communication students of the University of Pangasinan (UPang).

The event, held January 20 at the Sison Auditorium, also involved a series of lectures for high school students with this year’s speakers, Francis “Kiko” Flores of GMA-7’s DZBB and Mario C. Garcia, a tri-media practitioner.

The awardees were selected though a survey of secondary students from different schools in the province including Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD), Great Plebian College of Alaminos, Mangaldan National High School and San Fabian National High School who participated in the event.

GMA-7’s Balitang Amianan won this year’s Best News Program while Bombo Radyo’s Bombo Balita Alas Siete grabbed the Best AM News Program trophy.

Best FM Radio News Program awardee was Talk to Papa of Campus Radio.

Other winners were: Kiko Villalba of Mag TV (Best Entertainment Talkshow Host), TV Patrol’s Cris Zuñiga (Best TV Male News Presenter), Joyce Ann Segui of Balitang Amianan (Best TV Female News Presenter), Balitang Amianan’s Alfie Tulagan (Best Male TV Field Reporter), TV Patrol’s Jing Vallejos (Best Female TV Field Reporter), MOR’s Ham Milby and Natalie de Coco (Best Male/Female Disc Jockey), Freddie Fajardo of Aksyon Radyo (Best Male Radio Field Reporter), and Bombo Radyo’s Karen Hernandez (Best Female Radio Field Reporter).
