SM Rosales turns over share of municipality in transport terminal operations
THE local government of Rosales recently received its share from SM City Rosales for the operations of the SM Rosales Transport Terminal (SMRTT) amounting to P549,072.77 for the period July 2011 to September 2012
SM Supermalls management, headed by VP for Operations Engr. Bien C. Mateo, turned over the check to the municipality represented by Mayor Ricardo Revita.
The Rosales Transport Terminal, a joint project between the municipality of Rosales and SM, aims to regulate the traffic condition in Rosales by establishing a central terminal for public vehicles, including buses, jeepneys and tricycles.
Minimal fees are collected from transport groups servicing Carmen, Rosales through McArthur Highway. Only public vehicles that are loading passengers in the terminal are being issued a ticket.
The collected fees are used for the maintenance of the central terminal’s facilities such as comfort rooms, payment of service utilities, and salaries of transport terminal personnel.
The three-storey SMRTT became fully operational on Oct. 2, 2012 and houses public utility vehicles servicing as far south as Pasay and as far north as Abra. It also has 400 private parking slots, food stalls, and shower and comfort rooms.
The project is the first and only transport terminal of its kind being operated under the SM brand.
