Rep. Gina boosts agri, fishery production

SAN FABIAN–Fourth District Rep. Gina de Venecia handed some 7,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers of San Fabian last Friday as part of her continuing effort to boost food production in the town.

Acknowledging the role of farmers in ensuring food security to the country, De Venecia expressed hope that this new allocation of fertilizers will inspire the farmers of the town to produce more food for their families and the market.

De Venecia previously distributed motorized irrigation pumps, bags of certified palay seeds, fertilizer, and hand-held sprayers.

Alam po nyo, dahil sa inyong kasipagan, ang bayan ng San Fabian ay nakakuha ng malaking excise tax mula sa tabako. At siyento porsiyento po ng aking congressional allocation mula sa excise tax ng San Fabian, ay inilaan ko sa inyong pangangailangan,” she told the farmers.

De Venecia has also lobbied with the Department of Agriculture for the repair of a farm-to-market roads as well as with the National Irrigation Administration for the repair of irrigation canals.

Meanwhile, the congresswoman also announced that a designated fish section of the San Fabian Public Market is now being built from part of her Priority Development Assistance Fund.

Just completed is a fishery building at the San Fabian National High School where students will be taught fishery technology.
