CALASIAO—The airport project in Alaminos City remains on course although land acquisition is proving to be a tough hurdle for the nationally-funded infrastructure.

Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza, in a press conference here Monday, said the project is now in the process of acquiring the remaining 10 percent of the total private lots that will be needed for the airport.

“The landowners only need to be convinced to sell their lots,” Braganza said.

The airport will occupy 158.5 hectares of land for which P135.7 million has been allocated.

The P3.9 billion total project cost is funded by the national government through the Department of Transportation and Communication.

The airport is planned to serve domestic flights by 2016 and international flights by 2022. (PIA-Pangasinan/ARF)
