FOLK singer Noel Cabangon, known for his heartwarming music and nationalistic spirit, inspired Dagupan City’s young who participated in the first Dagupan Music Festival held February 2 at the CSI City Mall Atrium.

Cabangon, the main guest and lecturer in the music workshop during the festival, urged the young musicians to keep on aspiring and working for the improvement of their craft, to use music in relating to the society, and to never lose hope.

The one-day festival also featured singing and song-writing competitions and Cabangon entertained the crowd with an acoustic performance.

Out of 10 high school participants, St. Albert the Great School bagged 1st prize in the Song Writing Composition category and its representative got the special award for Best Instrumentalist.

The Life, Sound and Society band of the University of Pangasinan, meanwhile, won the 1st prize in the Song Writing Competition in the college category.
