Western Pangasinan still red tide-free
SEAFOOD products from the towns of Bolinao, Anda and Bani, and Alaminos City are safe to eat as these four coastal areas continue to be red tide free, according to the latest bulleting of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) issued January 9.
BFAR Region 1 director Nestor Domenden said fish, squids, shrimps, crabs and seashells like mussels and oysters gathered from these parts in the western side of Pangasinan “are free from toxic red tide and safe for human consumption”.
At the same time, Domenden reiterated his call to all local government units to continue instructing their market inspectors, quarantine officers, and administrators to demand for an Auxiliary Invoice or Clearance for Domestic Fish Movement for aquaculture products that are unloaded from other provinces and municipalities to ensure that these did not come from areas positive of paralytic shellfish poisoning.—Eva Visperas
