Region’s 9th most wanted man arrested

SAN FERNANDO, LU–After years of hiding in the Visayas and Mindanao, the number 9 most wanted person in the Ilocos region was finally arrested.

Police Chief Superintendent Ricardo C. Marquez, Police Regional Office 1 director, announced the arrest of Jolly Ordanza Abuan, 56, an ex-soldier of the army and a a resident of Barangay Salapugan, San Quintin, Pangasinan.

He was arrested in his hideout in Suldan Kudarat by operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) in coordination with the Lambayong police station.

Abuan is charged for various crimes, including illegal possession of firearms under criminal case number T-1948 and rape with homicide under case no. T-1949.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by then Hon. Judge Ulysses R. Butuyan of Branch 51 of Regional Trial Court in Tayug.

Abuan was listed among the region’s top most wanted persons with a monetary reward of P200,000  for his arrest as approved under Department of Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular Number 2006-146.

“I commend the effort exerted by our personnel in this accomplishment and it is one of our positive steps to ensure a secure and fair election and to give justice to the victims. I also encourage the public to give information as to the whereabouts of other wanted persons”, Marquez said.
