Manay Gina, idol of padyak drivers
FOURTH District Rep. Gina de Venecia has earned the reputation as the most ardent and steadiest ally of the common man and one who understands their struggle for a better life.
In a gathering of members of the Association of Padyak Drivers of Mangaldan, De Venecia announced she is allocating half a million pesos as livelihood assistance to them.
The amount will go to income-generating projects that the association will embark on to boost the income of individual tri-bike drivers.
Like her husband, former Speaker Joe de Venecia, Manay Gina has endeared herself throughout the years with the ordinary working men who eke out a living through their blood, sweat and tears.
“I know what you feel and I understand your plight,” De Venecia told the padyak drivers. “I am with you always.”
In the same occasion, Manay Gina thanked the padyak drivers for their meaningful contribution to their respective communities, recognizing their efforts as members of the community of people of Mangaldan.
“Alam ko ang hirap ng inyong trabaho, pero ito ay dapat ninyong ipagmalaki dahil ito’y isang gawaing-marangal, at mahalaga sa pang-araw-araw na buhay ng taga-Mangaldan,” De Venecia said.
The padyak drivers association was among several groups in Mangaldan that already received assistance from the congresswoman in the past.
The others are the Meat Vendors and Processors Association of Mangaldan, Employees Association of Mangaldan and Alliance of United Transport Organization, an umbrella organization of all drivers and operators of public utility vehicles in the Fourth District.
