DAGUPAN Mayor Benjamin S. Lim met with the tricycle drivers and operators group last Wednesday to discuss their concerns, particularly the problem on unlicensed operators.

Dagupan City Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association-Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DCTODA-MPC) officers led by Felix Ocampo, chairman of the board, presented to Lim their plight.

Lim assured the group that he will exert his best to weed out illegal trike operators in the city’s streets and committed to grant franchises only to Dagupeños only.

“We should give priority to our citizens,” Lim said.

At the same time, Lim asked the operators to adhere to traffic rules to avoid incurring the burden of paying penalty fees or worse, have their franchise suspended or even cancelled.

DCTODA-MPC is composed of some 800 trike drivers, operators and passengers as well. (CIO)
