City set to transfer pupils to new school building
THE DAGUPAN City government is set to transfer some 300 pupils from a school building in Poblacion Oeste in Dagupan City to a three-storey school building inside the Engineering Compound, expected to be completed first week of February this year.
The new school building situated inside the envisioned integrated school complex will have 15 classrooms that can accommodate not only the pupils from the Juan P. Guadiz Elementary School (JPGES) but also some pupils from the West Central Elementary School I.
City Administrator Vladimir Mata and City Schools Division Supt. Gloria Torres toured and inspected the ongoing construction of the building, the first three-storey public elementary school building in Region 1.
Mata said practically all expenses for the construction of the new edifice amounting to P24 million was funded by the city government.
The city government will build its 21-bed lying in hospital in JPGES’ place once the school is vacated.
Mata said that the other buildings in the compound which used to be occupied by employees of the City Engineering Office (CEO) and the Waste Management Division (WMD) will also be turned over to DepEd’s stewardship.
The city hall, however, has not given any indication that the Department of Education has given its go-signal for the transfer of the pupils and the eventual demolition of the JPGES. (With report from CIO)
