LINGAYEN–The barangay fiesta of Libsong West here is bigger than the usual village celebration with its “Got Talent” competition, which was on its second staging to all Pangasinenses.

The contest, derived from a popular television show, is a presentation of various talents such as singing, dancing, and musical instrument skills.

Harvie Aquino, event chairperson, said committee decided to open the competition to all Pangasinenses to help in the promotion of local talents and to welcome everybody to their fiesta celebration.

He added that providing a venue for the young to engage in creative pursuits helps in keeping them away from illegal drugs and other vices.

More than 40 contestants from various cities and municipalities joined the audition last December 9, and 16 of them made it to the finals held December 29 at the barangay’s auditorium.

WINNERS

Jessel Lambino from Dagupan City sang her way to the top, bringing home the P10,000 cash prize.

In second place was Denver Banate, a beatbox performer from Lingayen town, winning P7, 000; while Jake Gomez, a singer from Mangaldan town, was third with a prize of P5, 000.

A consolation prize of P500 was given to each of the non-winners. (PIA-Pangasinan)
